Rockstar Games initiated Netflix partnership for GTA 6 preview
Rockstar Games initiated a partnership with Netflix to host an exclusive six-hour window for the ‘Grand Theft Auto 6: Extended Look’ preview. While many fans initially criticized the move, suggesting Netflix had pressured the developer to drive subscriptions, a Rockstar Games public relations representative clarified to Kinda Funny that the developer proactively sought out the streaming platform.
The extended preview, which features approximately 27 minutes of footage including scenes in Vice City, was released to Netflix subscribers before becoming available on YouTube. Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick previously described the collaboration as a new marketing approach for the upcoming title. Although the decision drew backlash from some players who viewed the exclusivity as a way to leverage the game's hype for subscription growth, Rockstar maintains the move was their own strategic choice.
