Rockstar Games has officially addressed a series of unauthorized gameplay leaks for Grand Theft Auto VI, describing the situation as ‘heartbreaking’ for the development team. The leaks, attributed to a source known as ‘CyberLeek,’ have included footage of protagonists Jason and Lucia, as well as various locations and mechanics. In response, parent company Take-Two Interactive has issued subpoenas to Microsoft and Discord to identify those responsible.

Beyond the leaks, cybercriminals are exploiting the high anticipation for the game by promoting fake demos that contain malware designed to steal passwords and login sessions.

To regain control of the marketing narrative, Rockstar has announced a special presentation titled ‘Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look.’ This event is scheduled to premiere exclusively on Netflix on August 27, 2026, for a six-hour window, before being released for free on YouTube and the official GTA VI website. Despite the disruptions, the game remains on track for its scheduled release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
