Rockstar Games says GTA VI will launch as single‑player only, with online mode arriving later

Rockstar Games confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI will be released on 19 November for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as a single‑player experience. The studio will continue to support the existing GTA Online while a new multiplayer mode for GTA VI, designed for at least 32 players, is scheduled to arrive up to a month after launch.

Pre‑order information released on Amazon reveals several gameplay details. The game is set in the fictional state of Leonida, modeled on Florida and featuring Vice City. Players will control the criminal couple Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, with the ability to switch between them at any time outside missions. NPCs will follow individual daily routines, random events will populate the map, and establishments will be fully interactive. The title will include next‑generation graphics, advanced lighting, realistic animations, and an in‑game social‑media system that lets characters watch viral videos and follow influencers.

Rockstar listed the standard edition at US $80 (pre‑orders start 25 June) and noted that the physical copy will be a download‑code only package. A deluxe edition with extra vehicles, clothing and weapons is also available. The company emphasized that the new online mode will be supported while the single‑player launch proceeds, continuing the revenue stream generated by the long‑running GTA Online service.
