Rockstar Games unveils $400 GTA 6 collector’s box without the game

Rockstar Games has announced the ‘Grand Theft Auto VI: The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection’, a limited-edition collector’s box priced at $399.99 in the US, £350 in the UK, and CA$559 in Canada. The package contains 11 physical items inspired by the game’s Leonida setting, including a Macca the Gator figure, Oakley Frogskins sunglasses, a New Era 9FORTY hat, a crossbody bag, and various accessories like a shot glass and enamel pins.

Notably, the collection does not include a copy of the Grand Theft Auto VI game, which is sold separately for $79.99. This omission has sparked significant backlash on social media, with fans questioning the high price point for merchandise alone. Some observers have also noted that several items, such as the razor-blade keychain and magnetic mirror, appear to be rehashed versions of items from previous GTA special editions.

In response to the controversy, Ubisoft has utilized the debate to promote its own title, Rayman Legends Retold, highlighting that its special edition includes the game itself at a much lower price. Meanwhile, technical details regarding GTA VI have emerged, confirming a dynamic weather system that will feature extreme phenomena such as tropical storms and hurricanes.
