Rockstar offers free upgrade of GTA V to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S

Rockstar Games announced that owners of Grand Theft Auto V on PlayStation 4 or the digital Xbox One version can upgrade to the next‑generation PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S editions at no cost. The free upgrade, available from 18 June, adds technical improvements such as higher resolution (up to 4K), 60 fps, ray‑tracing, HDR, faster loading times and upgraded textures.

Players must migrate their GTA Online profiles to continue progress on the new consoles. The update arrives ahead of the July release of the new heist content “The Kortz Center Heist” and precedes the planned launch of GTA VI in November 2026. Since its original release, GTA V has sold more than 225 million copies worldwide.
