Rockstar’s GTA 6 release reshapes 2026 video‑game launch calendar

Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI will launch in November 2026, creating a dominant “gravitational field” that forces other publishers to adjust their release strategies. Studios are either postponing titles to 2027, moving launches to earlier months such as August, or competing in a crowded September window.

Remedy Entertainment is keeping its own title, Control Resonant, on schedule for a 24 September 2026 release despite the densely packed month that also includes Marvel’s Wolverine, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4, and other new games. Remedy cites development milestones and quality goals as reasons not to delay, and it is backing the launch with its largest marketing campaign to date. The overall effect is a “ruthless” 2026 calendar in which many developers must either fight for attention or risk being eclipsed by Rockstar’s blockbuster launch.
