Rocky Canyon Fire reaches 23% containment near Henefer, Utah

The Rocky Canyon Fire near Henefer, Utah, has reached approximately 23% containment, according to the U.S. Forest Service and the Northern Utah Type 3 Incident Management Team. While containment has been established in the East Canyon, Hogsback, and State Route 66 areas through strategic controlled burns, the fire continues to progress in difficult-to-manage terrain.

More than 500 residents remain under evacuation orders due to the fast-moving nature of the blaze. Although no structures have been confirmed lost, officials warn that several homes remain threatened. The fire has burned an estimated 13,601 to 15,000 acres. It reportedly began on a Friday due to undetermined human causes and spread rapidly over the weekend driven by strong winds.

Local residents have reported significant damage to ranch land and equipment due to intense heat and flying embers. A community meeting was held in Coalville to provide updates on firefighting tactics and the fire's footprint.
