Rocky celebrates 50th anniversary with new biopic and 4K release
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 1976 film ‘Rocky’, Amazon MGM Studios and Alliance Home Entertainment will release a limited-edition 2-disc 4K UHD / Blu-ray SteelBook on December 15. The collection will include a keepsake mini-poster and extensive bonus content, such as three commentaries featuring Sylvester Stallone, cast members, and boxing experts, alongside over three hours of additional footage.
In conjunction with the anniversary, the original film is scheduled for a special theatrical re-release in selected cinemas in November 2026. Additionally, a new biographical drama titled ‘I Play Rocky’ is in development at Amazon MGM Studios. Directed by an Oscar winner, the biopic will explore Sylvester Stallone’s personal journey, specifically his financial struggles and his decision to refuse selling the script unless he was cast as the lead.
‘I Play Rocky’ is expected to arrive in theaters across Spain and Latin America in January 2027.
