Rocky Gerung joins Indonesia's Presidential Advisory Council

Academic Rocky Gerung has been appointed as a member of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) in Indonesia. Speaking at the handover ceremony for the Head of the Government Communication Agency in Jakarta, Gerung explained that his decision to join the administration was driven by a desire to deliver his ideas more directly to President Prabowo Subianto.

Gerung stated that he wants his arguments to reach the President more efficiently than through public television discussion forums. He addressed criticisms regarding his new role, asserting that he has not traded his reputation for government facilities and remains committed to his principles. He described his transition as moving “from the outside to the inside” rather than abandoning his critical stance, noting that his goal is to ensure government communication is based on logic and public perception.
