Roco Kingdom announced for Japan with open-world monster collection

Tencent Holdings and Morefun Studios held a presentation and hands-on event in Japan for the upcoming open-world monster-collection RPG, ‘Roco Kingdom’. The game is a new global evolution of a long-running Chinese IP that has existed for 16 years.

Set in the Calosia continent, the game features over 400 species of creatures known as ‘Jini’. Players take on the role of magic users to explore, collect, and raise these creatures. The development team emphasized a focus on immersion through dynamic weather systems and detailed soundscapes designed to reflect the unique personalities of the Jini.

Key features include strategic PvP and PvE battles that prioritize player skill over pay-to-win mechanics, as well as social elements like farming and traveling with friends. The presentation featured voice actors KENN and Aiba Aina, who performed live dubbing and participated in gameplay demonstrations. A closed beta test for the Japanese version is scheduled to begin on October 27, 2026. The game will be available on PC (Steam/Epic Games), PS5, Xbox Series X|S, iOS, and Android.
