Veracruz Governor Nahle announces ride-sharing regulation and addresses diesel spill

Veracruz Governor Rocío Nahle García has addressed several administrative and environmental issues facing the state. Regarding environmental concerns, the State Environmental Protection Attorney's Office (PMA) is responding to a diesel spill in a stream in Jáltipan. The spill occurred despite containment measures previously installed following a recent fire at a nearby plant.

On the legislative front, Nahle announced plans to submit an initiative to the Veracruz State Congress this coming Monday to regulate digital transportation platforms, such as Uber, DiDi, and InDrive. This move follows protests by drivers seeking legal certainty and an end to enforcement operations by public transport authorities.

Additionally, Nahle dismissed recent media allegations involving Amílcar Olán and Infrastructure Secretary Leonardo Cornejo as “montages” orchestrated by international right-wing interests. She denied any personal connection to Olán or involvement in business dealings related to the Dos Bocas refinery during her previous tenure as Energy Secretary.
