Rocío Nahle intervenes to rescue Ingenio San Pedro sugar mill

Veracruz Governor Rocío Nahle García has intervened to address the potential closure of the Ingenio San Pedro sugar mill in Lerdo de Tejada. Following announcements regarding the facility's closure, Nahle inspected the mills and steam turbines to assess operational conditions and discuss preservation strategies with workers.

The Governor stated that her administration is analyzing alternatives to maintain the mill's activity and protect regional employment and sugarcane production. One proposed measure involves allowing personnel to enter the facility to perform maintenance while labor situations and outstanding wages are reviewed. Nahle also indicated she will present the case to President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo to seek an integral solution for the mill's future.

As immediate relief, Nahle instructed the State System for Integral Family Development (DIF) to deliver food baskets to plant and temporary workers who have not received their salaries. Additionally, she proposed implementing a specialized cleaning and organization scheme similar to those used in heavy industries like refineries to recover the facility's conditions.
