Roda de Berà to host Historical Memory Week honoring Carme Claramunt
The town of Roda de Berà will host the first ‘Historical Memory Week’ from September 21 to 26. Organized by the republican association També Hi Som, the event is dedicated to Carme Claramunt i Barot, a local resident who was executed at Camp de la Bota on April 18, 1939, during the Francoist dictatorship.
The program includes exhibitions, round tables, documentaries, and a recognition gala. The initiative aims to recover the history of Claramunt, who was imprisoned in Barcelona and sentenced to death by a military council.
In a separate act of remembrance, Carme Travesset honored the memory of Blanca Serra at the Fossar de les Moreres. Serra was a prominent figure in the struggle for national and social liberation in the Catalan Countries and was recognized as a victim of torture at the Via Laietana police station. Travesset highlighted the ongoing need for justice and the preservation of historical testimony regarding the political struggles of the 1970s.
