Rodalies de Catalunya faces rail chaos during solar eclipse
The Catalan commuter rail network, Rodalies de Catalunya, faced significant disruption during a recent solar eclipse. Due to a lack of special planning or additional personnel, stations and platforms experienced heavy overcrowding as travelers opted for public transport to avoid highway congestion.
In Tarragona, authorities had to close and regulate access to the station due to the influx of people. Reports indicate that trains faced delays of nearly 50 minutes. Francisco Cárdenas, representing the UGT union for the Renfe Group, noted that no special operational device was prepared, suggesting that a lack of available rolling stock may have prevented additional services.
