Rodgau and Papenburg launch free community sports initiatives

The S.K.G. Rodgau pétanque department will run weekly boules sessions in Rodgau's Rodau Park from 4 August to 29 September 2026 as part of the Hessen Landessportbund’s “Sport im Park” programme. The free, trainer‑led activities are open to anyone and need no prior registration.

In Papenburg, the city together with Sparkasse Emsland has installed a new “sport box” in the city park near the multigeneration playground. The box contains four compartments that allow up to four people to borrow sport and play equipment at no cost, using an app for registration and booking. The project is promoted by Mayor Vanessa Gattung and Sparkasse regional manager Robert Grote.
