Rodhi Gatidou dies without solving her daughter's 1997 murder

Rodhi Gatidou, the mother of Evi Gatidou, has passed away at the age of 72. She died without ever discovering the identity of the person responsible for the brutal murder of her 21-year-old daughter.

In September 1997, Evi Gatidou, a medical student in Larissa, was found dead in her apartment after being stabbed 104 times. The crime shocked Greece and remains officially unsolved, as no one has been definitively convicted for the killing.

For nearly three decades, Rodhi Gatidou engaged in a long and painful legal struggle to seek justice. Her lawyer, Nicoletta Basdeki, who supported the family alongside the late criminal lawyer Giannis Diamantis, announced the death and reflected on the lack of judicial catharsis the family sought throughout their years of fighting for the truth.
