Rodney Leysner disappearance investigation turns into criminal case

Surinamese authorities have shifted their investigation into the disappearance of Dutch film producer and Rudisa executive Rodney Leysner to a criminal inquiry. Leysner has been missing since August 15, after leaving his home for a work meeting in the Saramacca district.

Police discovered a burnt and crushed vehicle buried in a swamp on a vacant lot in Saramacca. Forensic teams are conducting technical examinations to determine if the vehicle is Leysner’s white Kia Sorento.

Four suspects have been identified in connection with the case. A Cuban couple, identified by the initials S. A. and Y. S. N., and a Surinamese man, R. E., have been arrested and detained. A fourth suspect, T. R., remains at large as police continue searches at multiple addresses. Leysner himself has not yet been found, and authorities are urging the public to provide any information that may assist in the search.
