Rodri explains choosing FC Barcelona over Real Madrid

Midfielder Rodri has provided details regarding his summer transfer from Manchester City to FC Barcelona, clarifying that he chose the Catalan club over Real Madrid based on sporting projects rather than financial incentives. Rodri noted that while Real Madrid and manager José Mourinho showed exemplary interest and professionalism, he was ultimately convinced by Barcelona's sporting vision, specifically through discussions with Hansi Flick and Deco.

Rodri also dismissed rumors that his decision was influenced by Real Madrid’s boycott of the Ballon d’Or ceremony, stating the award was a personal milestone that did not affect his transfer considerations.

In separate football news, tensions have risen between Barcelona and Atlético Madrid over the pursuit of Julián Álvarez. Atlético executive Miguel Ángel Gil Marín accused Barcelona of deceptive maneuvers regarding the player. To maintain motivation, Gil Marín has reportedly promised Álvarez a reduction in his €500 million release clause if he scores at least 20 goals this season, as the player remains interested in a move to Barcelona or Arsenal.
