RoDrift competition in Bucharest sparks environmental concerns

The RoDrift final competition held in Bucharest, near the Romanian Parliament building, has drawn both sporting success and environmental scrutiny. Moldovan driver Victor Ștefănică secured first place in the SemiPRO class after winning four consecutive races, overcoming an initial 15th-place qualifying position.

Following the event, Romania’s Minister of Environment, Waters and Forests, Diana Buzoianu, called for a discussion on air quality in Bucharest. She cited excessive smoke and the smell of burnt rubber produced during the drifting activities, prompting the National Environmental Guard to conduct an inspection into the legality and environmental impact of the competition.
