Rodrigo Carvalho to substitute Maju Coutinho on Fantástico

TV Globo has selected journalist Rodrigo Carvalho to temporarily co-host the news program Fantástico alongside Poliana Abritta. Carvalho, who currently serves as the network's international correspondent in London, will step into the role during Maju Coutinho's maternity leave.

Coutinho is expected to begin her leave in January 2027 to prepare for the arrival of her first child, Malik. Carvalho is anticipated to remain on the program's anchor desk until Coutinho's expected return in the middle of that year.

Carvalho, a graduate of PUC-Rio with a postgraduate degree in International Relations from FGV, previously held a brief stint presenting the program in late 2025. He has extensive experience with GloboNews and international reporting.
