Rodrigo Castillo addresses pressure at Fluminense
Fluminense striker Rodrigo Castillo has addressed the high expectations surrounding his performance since joining the club from Lanús in March. Purchased for approximately US$ 10 million, the Argentine forward has struggled to secure a consistent starting role, appearing in only ten starts across 23 matches with four goals and one assist.
Castillo acknowledged the pressure of his transfer fee, stating, “Obviously, if a club invests so much in a player, it expects a return.” He noted that his previous success against Flamengo in the Recopa Sudamericana had heightened expectations for his arrival in Brazil.
Following Fluminense's qualification for the Libertadores semifinals, Castillo may see increased playing time. Due to injuries to Germán Cano and John Kennedy, he has risen in the attacking hierarchy, currently serving as the primary option behind Hulk.
