Rodrigo Melgar charged with sexual assault in North Hollywood

Rodrigo Melgar, 27, of Woodland Hills, has been charged with one felony count of sexual penetration by use of force following an incident in North Hollywood on July 19. Prosecutors allege that Melgar followed a woman as she left a gym and assaulted her before a witness intervened.

Melgar pleaded not guilty at his August 5 arraignment, and bail has been set at $100,000. Investigators believe there may be additional victims in this case. If convicted, Melgar faces a maximum sentence of eight years in state prison.
