Rodrigo Ruíz suffers technical knockout loss to Ángel Talavera Carrillo

Argentine boxer Rodrigo Ruíz suffered a technical knockout loss to Mexico's Ángel Talavera Carrillo at the Polideportivo José María Gatica in Avellaneda. The bout was contested for the vacant WBO and IBF Latin featherweight titles.

Ruíz initially gained momentum by knocking down Talavera Carrillo in the first round. However, the Mexican fighter recovered and took control of the match. In the fifth round, Ruíz attempted a left hook that Talavera Carrillo evaded; the Mexican responded with a powerful left hook to the jaw that sent Ruíz to the canvas. Ruíz required medical attention and was eventually removed from the ring on a stretcher.

Despite the victory, Talavera Carrillo was not awarded the titles because he failed to meet the required weight during the official weigh-in. Following the match, Ruíz expressed his sadness on social media, stating that while the result was difficult, he is doing well and intends to spend time with his family before deciding on his next steps.
