Rodrigo Santamaría Martini arrested for alleged fraud in Azul
Rodrigo Santamaría Martini, a 38-year-old former legislative pro-secretary of the Azul Deliberative Council and former president of the GEN party in Azul, has been arrested following an investigation into multiple fraud allegations.
Prosecutors are investigating eight separate instances of repeated fraud. Victims reported that Santamaría Martini operated a personal, unofficial financial scheme where individuals invested large sums of cash, ranging from $1,000 to over $30,000, in exchange for monthly interest rates promised between 10% and 20%.
According to victim testimonies, the transactions were conducted in cash without formal receipts, relying instead on WhatsApp communications to coordinate payments and renewals. The investigation, led by Prosecutor David Carballo of the UFI N.º 2 of the Azul Judicial Department, included three searches at local residences to gather evidence. Santamaría Martini remains in custody pending a formal interrogation.
