Rodrigo Santoro says telenovela comeback hinges on the right invitation
Brazilian actor Rodrigo Santoro, known for Hollywood roles and the Netflix series *Brasil 70: A Saga do Tri*, said his return to Brazilian telenovelas would depend on receiving a suitable invitation. In an interview on RedeTV!’s *TV Fama*, he explained that a project’s character and format matter, noting that traditional telenovelas run for a year and that he is not currently considering short‑form vertical series for social media.
Santoro’s last telenovela appearance was in *Velho Chico* (2016). He also highlighted his recent work, including the Prime Video release *Corrida dos Bichos* and his award‑winning supporting role in the film *O Último Azul*, for which he received the Best Supporting Actor prize at the Grande Otelo 2026 ceremony held at Rio de Janeiro’s Theatro Municipal. He emphasized his love for challenging, risky projects and his curiosity about new characters.
