Rodrigo Santoro to play villain in action film ‘Runner’

Brazilian actor Rodrigo Santoro will portray the antagonist Damián Zaldívar in the upcoming action film ‘Runner’ (Três Horas Para Viver). Directed by Scott Waugh, the film features an ensemble cast including Alan Ritchson and Owen Wilson.

The plot follows a high-stakes mission to transport a rare, vital organ to a patient in critical condition. Santoro plays the leader of a dangerous criminal faction attempting to thwart this mission. The character is described as an unbalanced individual struggling to maintain control, a role Santoro prepared for by listening to opera and classical music to capture the character’s ‘operatic’ nature.

Cast members have noted the intensity of Santoro’s performance. Alan Ritchson praised the actor’s intensity, while Owen Wilson highlighted a disturbing humanity within the threatening character. The film is scheduled for release in Brazilian cinemas on October 8.
