Rodrigo Zalazar targets Champions League progress with Sporting CP

Sporting CP midfielder Rodrigo Zalazar has expressed his ambition to help the club advance further in the UEFA Champions League than their previous quarter-final finish. Speaking ahead of a match against Galatasaray, the 27-year-old Uruguayan stated that the squad possesses the quality and atmosphere necessary to compete for all titles this season.

Addressing his €30 million transfer fee, Zalazar noted that he does not view the figure as added pressure, but rather as a “demonstration of confidence” in his abilities. He highlighted the importance of the clear commitment shown by club president Frederico Varandas during his recruitment process, which solidified his decision to join the club.

Zalazar also expressed pride in representing the institution that developed Cristiano Ronaldo, noting that he feels honored to be part of the club's history.
