Rodrigue Kwizera wins Birell 10K in Prague after runner's course error
A navigational error led to a dramatic finish at the Birell 10K Night Race in Prague. Kenyan runner Victor Kipruto Kiprono, who had established a significant lead, mistakenly followed the lead vehicle off the course shortly before the finish line. Although race officials redirected him, the delay allowed other runners to pass.
Rodrigue Kwizera, representing Spain, secured the victory with a time of 27:15, setting a new Spanish national record. Kwizera, who recently moved from Burundi to represent Spain, finished just ahead of Owen Korir Kapkama. Kiprono ultimately finished in third place with a time of 27:18.
In the women's race, 19-year-old Chaltu Dida Diriba from Ethiopia took first place with a time of 30:04. The event drew approximately 9,500 participants from 98 different countries.
