Rodrygo Goes targets December return from ACL injury

Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes is targeting a return to competitive action on December 16 during a Copa del Rey fixture. This would mark his first appearance since suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament and lateral meniscus damage in his right knee during a La Liga match against Getafe on March 2, 2026.

The 25-year-old Brazilian has resumed on-pitch sessions at the Valdebebas training facility. His recovery process has included a focus on ‘body recomposition,’ a technique used to increase muscle mass while reducing body fat percentage to ensure he returns stronger for physical duels.

While his father previously expressed hope for a return before February 2027, the current December target aligns with the original 10-to-12-month surgical recovery window. Real Madrid’s medical staff is reportedly maintaining a conservative approach to prioritize long-term safety and prevent re-injury to the meniscus.
