Roermond shooting: Father and son arrested after 21-year-old killed

A community in Roermond held a silent procession to honor Ericmaishelo, a 21-year-old man killed in a fatal shooting on the Terbaansweg in the Donderberg district on Sunday, September 20. Family, friends, and neighbors gathered to commemorate his life, with nearly 4,500 euros already raised for his funeral.

Following the incident, the Dutch special interventions service (DSI) conducted a raid on a residence in the Ravelstraat, and investigators used magnetic sweepers in the Maasnielderbeek to search for evidence. On Thursday, September 24, a 47-year-old man and his 20-year-old son surrendered to police in Venlo. Both suspects have invoked self-defense, claiming they acted to protect themselves against the victim. While the 20-year-old son was released from custody on September 25, he remains a suspect in the ongoing homicide investigation. The 47-year-old father remains in detention.
