Rogami village houses evacuated over Montenegro highway expansion

Residents of Rogami’s Ras hamlet in Montenegro have been forced to abandon a house after construction of the Smokovac‑Tološi highway continued through their property. Local leader Milodarka Novosel of the NVU Opstanak Rogami warned that families Novosel, Vukanović and Rajković could lose access to their homes if the project proceeds, and that the planned demolition threatens additional houses.

The community has lodged a second complaint with the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Development, arguing that the environmental impact study for the highway segment is legally invalid, technically deficient, and conceals severe effects on water wells and ecosystems. They demand a strategic impact assessment and an analysis of alternative routes for the first three kilometres of the corridor.
