Rogbid releases 110‑Euro AI smart glasses as Meta adds paid AI subscription
Rogbid has entered the mass‑market smart‑glass segment with a new AI‑enabled device priced around €110. The glasses feature a 13‑megapixel camera that captures images in roughly 0.6 seconds, electronic image stabilisation, photochromic lenses, a 290 mAh battery advertised for a full day’s use, and an integrated voice assistant offering real‑time translation. The lightweight TR90 frame and dual speakers are aimed at everyday comfort.
At the same time, Meta is reshaping its Ray‑Ban and Oakley smart‑glass line by introducing a premium subscription service, MetaOne, costing about €18 per month. The tier unlocks the full suite of AI functions, initially limited to the United States and Canada, and expands language support to include Japanese and Korean. Other manufacturers such as XGIMI are also showcasing variants that forgo cameras in favour of high‑brightness micro‑LED displays, underscoring a diverse approach to the emerging market.
Industry commentary notes that despite the hype, smart glasses remain a niche product. Critics argue that the devices add limited practical value compared with smartphones and existing wearables, and question whether they can become a mainstream interface.
