ROGEAC adopts democratic election principles for Central Africa

The Network of Electoral Management Bodies in Central Africa (ROGEAC) has formally adopted the Principles of Democratic Elections in Central Africa (PEDAC). The decision was finalized during an extraordinary general assembly held in Kinshasa from September 15 to 17, 2026.

Organized by the Independent National Electoral Commission of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (CENI-RDC) with technical support from the Electoral Institute for Sustainable Democracy in Africa (EISA), the workshop focused on the entire electoral cycle. Key areas of discussion included pre-electoral, electoral, and post-electoral phases, as well as cross-cutting issues such as inclusion, cybersecurity, data protection, and disinformation.

Denis Kadima Kazadi, who serves as both the President of CENI-RDC and the acting President of ROGEAC, emphasized the need for continuity in implementing these new instruments. He also noted recent organizational milestones, including the 2025–2030 strategic plan and the recognition of ROGEAC as a partner institution to the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS). Efforts are also underway to establish the network's official headquarters in Libreville.
