Roger Crowley attends 16th Kocaeli Book Fair
British historian and author Roger Crowley participated in the 16th International Kocaeli Book Fair, where he praised the event's energy and scale. During a special session titled ‘Telling the Past: Where Does History End and the Story Begin?’, Crowley noted that the fair is more dynamic and grand compared to similar events in his home country.
Crowley discussed his passion for writing about Turkish history, specifically mentioning his research into the conquest of Istanbul and his admiration for historical figures such as Mehmed II and Constantine XI. He emphasized his commitment to historical accuracy, stating that he avoids inventing stories and instead relies on original sources and human narratives.
In addition to his work on the siege of 1453, Crowley is known for his writings on the Mediterranean, maritime history, and the empires of Venice and Portugal.
