Roger Daltrey reveals The Who rehearsed with Zak Starkey for potential shows

Roger Daltrey, the 82-year-old frontman of The Who, has revealed that he and guitarist Pete Townshend recently rehearsed with drummer Zak Starkey to determine if the band can perform shows next year.

Daltrey noted that while the band has never felt the same since the death of drummer Keith Moon in 1978, Starkey comes “very close” to being a like-for-like replacement. However, Daltrey expressed uncertainty regarding a full reunion, noting that while they love Starkey, the rigors of touring can sometimes be difficult for him.

The band’s recent history includes a North American farewell tour in 2025. Daltrey is currently performing a solo tour titled ‘A Great Night Out!’, which he suggested might be his final solo run as he looks toward a more ordinary life and continued charity work.
