Roger Federer reflects on career losses and Djokovic's longevity

In a recent interview with ESPN during the US Open Fan Week, Roger Federer reflected on his career and the longevity of his former rival, Novak Djokovic. Federer expressed admiration for Djokovic’s ability to remain at the highest level of tennis, noting that he expected to see a significant decline by this stage of Djokovic's career. He highlighted Djokovic's recent success, including reaching four Grand Slam semifinals last year and multiple semifinals and a final this year.

Federer also identified the most difficult Grand Slam finals of his career. While many might assume the 2019 Wimbledon final against Djokovic was his most painful loss, Federer stated that the 2009 US Open final against Juan Martín del Potro haunts him more because it ended a period of dominance. He also cited the 2008 Wimbledon final against Rafael Nadal as a significant loss that ended a major winning streak.
