Roger Mariaca residence raided as investigators find millions

Authorities have conducted a raid on the residence of former Attorney General Roger Mariaca in Santa Cruz de la Sierra. During the operation, a safe was discovered containing a preliminary estimated amount of US$ 2.5 million. This search is part of ongoing investigations into alleged criminal organization, drug trafficking, and money laundering.

The raid follows a separate incident where approximately Bs 3,532,100 and US$ 10,000 were found in an ambulance leaving the vicinity of Mariaca’s home. Investigators are currently working to verify the exact amount of cash found in the safe and determine its origin.

Mariaca is currently in preventive detention at the Cantumarca prison in Potosí. He faces two separate legal processes: one for controlled substance trafficking and criminal organization, and another for money laundering. Following his transfer to the facility, police reported that his health remains stable as he enters the initial observation stage of the prison system.
