Roger Marshall campaign uses unauthorized camp photo in attack ad
U.S. Senator Roger Marshall is facing criticism from the Tall Oaks Camp and Conference Center for using an unauthorized photograph of children in a campaign attack ad. The commercial targets Democratic nominee Adam Hamilton regarding allegations of sexual abuse involving a volunteer at the Church of the Resurrection, which is led by Hamilton.
Lea Ann Combs, president of the board of directors at Tall Oaks, stated that the camp was not consulted and did not approve the use of the image. Combs expressed concern that the advertisement creates a “misleading association” between the camp, the children pictured, and the events discussed in the ad.
While a senior advisor to the Marshall campaign claimed the advertisement had been “corrected,” versions of the commercial appearing on social media reportedly continued to feature the image of the chapel and approximately two dozen people. The camp has demanded that Marshall suspend the commercial until the photograph is removed.
