Rogers Communications reports record cash flow and new credit card fees

Rogers Communications reported a record quarterly free cash flow of $1.37 billion for the third quarter ending September 30, a significant increase from $829 million in the previous year. The company’s revenue rose 2% to $5.44 billion, while adjusted EBITDA reached $2.54 billion.

Alongside these financial results, Rogers announced it will implement a 1.6% processing charge on customers paying via credit card starting January 17, 2027. The fee applies to both one-time and automatic payments for Rogers and Fido customers, though Quebec residents and certain eligible plan holders are exempt. The company stated the move is intended to recover nearly $150 million in annual credit card processing costs, which have risen approximately 40% since 2020.

Net profit attributable to shareholders was $482 million, or 88 cents per diluted share. This compares to a much higher profit in the prior year, which was bolstered by a $5 billion non-cash gain related to its stake in Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment.
