Rogério Caboclo withdraws from São Paulo FC presidential race
Rogério Caboclo, the former president of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), has announced his withdrawal from the race to become the president of São Paulo FC. In an open letter released on Saturday, Caboclo stated that he will not proceed with his candidacy for the 2027-2029 term.
Caboclo explained that his decision stems from a desire to prioritize the unity of the club's political opposition over individual projects. The election, which is scheduled for the first half of December, follows a period of political tension at the club under current president Harry Massis.
With Caboclo's exit, Marcelo Portugal Gouvêa is gaining momentum as a primary candidate for the opposition. Caboclo, a long-time club member and life counselor, emphasized that his withdrawal does not signify a lack of commitment to the club's future.
