Rohde & Schwarz to install security scanners at Airports of Thailand
Rohde & Schwarz has been awarded a contract to supply QPS201 advanced imaging technology (AIT) security scanners to five airports managed by Airports of Thailand (AOT). The installation includes Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport, a major Asian hub serving approximately 60 million passengers annually.
The QPS201 scanners utilize millimeter wave technology and AI-based algorithms to identify prohibited items while maintaining low false alarm rates. The system is designed for efficiency, allowing passengers to undergo scans in a hands-down pose that takes only milliseconds. To protect privacy, potential threats are displayed on a standardized digital avatar rather than revealing personal physical attributes.
The technology holds certifications from the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) and has achieved TSA qualification, making it suitable for use in United States passenger security checkpoints. More than 2,000 of these systems are currently deployed in airports globally.
