Rohia Monastery Hosts International Festival for Maramureș National Day and Centenary

The 27‑31 July 2026 cultural programme in Maramureș centres on the centenary of the "Sfânta Ana" Rohia Monastery. The monastery will host the National Day of Maramureș Festival – the International Festival of Traditional Identity – featuring delegations and folk ensembles from Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Albania and India. The event combines religious, cultural and artistic performances, with the "National Folk Ensemble Transylvania" as a principal artistic partner, and marks the second edition of the Maramureș National Day established by law in August 2025.

In parallel, the County Library "Petre Dulfu" in Baia Mare runs a series of activities, including an Erasmus‑funded "Lens of Critical Thinking" course, a reading club, and a UFO‑enthusiasts meeting, all scheduled throughout the same dates. These initiatives aim to promote cultural dialogue, sustainable development and community engagement alongside the monastery celebrations.
