Rohingya teenager murdered in Kelantan shared house

An 18-year-old Rohingya man was found dead in a shared house in Taman Desa Kujid, Kampung Pok Boh, near a Muslim cemetery in Kota Bharu. The victim suffered fatal slash and chop wounds to the neck.

Kelantan Police Chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat stated that a 31-year-old Rohingya man has been identified as the primary suspect. The suspect reportedly claimed he had been receiving “divine instructions” for a month before carrying out the killing against his colleague. Police noted the suspect appeared to be hallucinating, though medical experts will provide further verification. Preliminary investigations suggest there was no struggle prior to the attack.

Authorities have detained four individuals, including three Rohingya nationals (one woman) and one local man, for a seven-day remand period. Police also seized four mobile phones and a Mitsubishi Triton pickup truck. Additionally, investigators are questioning the validity of the suspect’s UNHCR card, as it contains discrepancies compared to those of other detainees. The suspect tested negative for drugs during a urine screening. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
