Rohit Rajpal announces candidacy for AITA presidency
Rohit Rajpal, the captain of India’s Davis Cup team and current president of the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association, has announced his candidacy for the presidency of the All India Tennis Association (AITA).
Rajpal, a former player and Asian Junior Champion, stated that his decision to run follows extensive discussions within the tennis community. He expressed a vision to expand the sport across India, particularly in smaller towns, and noted that his administration would aim to support India’s ambitions to host the 2036 Summer Olympics.
The election is expected to be competitive, as interim AITA president Chintan Parikh is also anticipated to contest the position. Rajpal meets the requirements of the National Sports Governance Act 2025 through his current roles as AITA vice president and DLTA president.
