Rohit Sharma trains in England ahead of India‑England ODI series

India’s veteran opener Rohit Sharma arrived in England a week before the three‑match ODI series that begins on 14 July at Edgbaston. He began net practice, displaying a range of strokes and appearing in good form ahead of the series. Sharma’s arrival follows his recent return to ODI cricket against Afghanistan, where he posted scores of 16, 48 and 79, and comes after being honoured with the Padma Shri. The Indian squad for the England tour includes Shubman Gill (captain), Virat Kohli (subject to fitness), and other regulars, with competition for opening spots intensifying as younger players such as Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan perform aggressively. The preparation in English conditions is intended to help Sharma make an impact and solidify his place in the order as India builds toward the 2027 ODI World Cup.
