Rohit Sharma’s ODI Future Secured as BCCI Denies Retirement Rumors
Former India opener Sadagoppan Ramesh argued that Rohit Sharma should be a guaranteed member of India’s 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup squad, citing the only two Indian ODI centuries scored in SENA (South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia) conditions – 121 in Sydney and 138 against England – as decisive evidence.
BCCI vice‑president Rajeev Shukla dismissed circulating speculation that Sharma might retire from ODIs, stating there is “no question” of retirement after Sharma’s 138‑run innings at Lord’s. Shukla affirmed that squad selection remains the selectors’ prerogative and that India’s current performance negates any need for change.
