Rok Turk leads the Mahle Rally Nova Gorica
The 14th Mahle Rally Nova Gorica, which serves as both a round of the Slovenian National Championship and the FIA European Rally Trophy, is currently underway. The event features 96 crews from eight different countries competing on challenging terrain ranging from 100 to 1,000 meters above sea level.
After the first day of competition, which included seven speed tests through the hills of Kolovrata and the Banjše Plateau, Rok Turk and co-driver Blanka Kacin took the overall lead in their Hyundai i20 R2. They completed the stages in 49:59.7, maintaining an average speed of nearly 95 km/h.
Mark Škulj and co-driver Uroš Ocvirk of AMD Gorica followed closely in second place, trailing Turk by less than one second. The competition remains tight, with German driver Albert von Thurn und Taxis holding third place. The rally has proven difficult, with 19 crews withdrawing during the first day of racing.
