Amkor Technology Forecasts Q3 Revenue Below Estimates, Shares Drop Over 5%
Amkor Technology announced Q3 revenue guidance of $1.95 billion to $2.05 billion, falling short of the analyst consensus estimate of $2.12 billion. The company attributed the weaker outlook to limited memory availability, shifting customer production schedules, and the planned migration of its System‑in‑Package (SiP) operations to Vietnam.
Chief Financial Officer Megan Faust said communications revenue is expected to decline in the high single‑digit range sequentially, deviating from typical seasonal patterns. Chief Executive Officer Kevin Engel explained that moving SiP production to Vietnam is intended to improve manufacturing efficiency, scalability and cost structure, while the freed Korean capacity will be redirected toward higher‑value advanced products.
Following the guidance release, Amkor’s stock fell more than 5% in pre‑market trading on Tuesday. The company also noted continued weakness in the Android market, which contributed to revenue pressure across both Android and iOS‑related segments.
