Roku raises streaming-stick prices up to 60% amid RAM shortage
Roku announced a price increase for all of its streaming sticks and set‑top boxes in the United States, with MSRP jumps ranging from 33% to 60%. The company said the “tough decision” was driven by a shortage of RAM and other components caused by the surge in artificial‑intelligence demand. Specific changes include the Streaming Stick now $40 (up from $30), the Streaming Stick Plus $60 (from $40), the Streaming Stick 4K $80 (from $50), the Roku Ultra $150 (from $100) and the Streambar SE $150 (from $100). Roku noted that similar price hikes have affected other consumer electronics, such as Apple’s entry‑level MacBook and Sony’s PlayStation 5. No price adjustments have yet been announced for the UK market, but the global memory shortage could prompt further changes.
