Rokycany man charged after threatening police with a samurai sword
A 44-year-old man in the Rokycany region is facing criminal charges after a series of violent threats against police officers involving a samurai sword. The incidents began on September 2, when police responded to reports of a man blocking a road with a motorcycle. Upon arrival, the man reportedly insulted officers and brandished a katana, threatening to hack them down.
Following the initial confrontation, the man demanded the return of the confiscated weapon via an emergency line on September 10, claiming he had acquired a new sword and intended to decapitate officers. He also sent threatening messages to the General Inspection of Security Forces.
A tactical unit subsequently detained the man. He has been charged with two crimes related to threatening an official and threatening a public authority. Although investigators requested pretrial detention, a court denied the request, and the man will remain free while being prosecuted.
